           This mosque is the second largest mosque in Southeast Asia after the Istiqlal Mosque and  Al Akbar Mosque, with the foreground  in the form of the Mahakam River Bank. The mosque has a tower with 99 meters tall and a large dome. Islamic Mosque Center Samarinda has a building area of 43,500 square meters. The location where it was founded previously was a sawmill owned by PT. Inhutani which was granted to the Goverment of the province of East Kalimantan. The construction process began on  5 July 2001 development process by President Megawati Soekarno Putri and seven years later the complex was inaugurated by President Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudoyono on 16 June 2008.
