Beras Basah comes from the story of the ship of the Sultane of Kutai. Formerly in the heyday of Kutai Kingdom there was a ship which was belongs to Sultane of Kutai that was intended to deliver the rice from Makassar, in the journey the ship experienced a calamity and wreck and spilled the rice and transformed into the white sand. The water and the sand is so clean and it’s a good place to relax and sightseeing because it’s still natural.

This place originally an area of HPH concession area of CV Kayu Mahakam which has been selectively cut. The Chancellor of Mulawan University at that time is Ir. R. H.
